PLEASE NOTE:
Now that our family includes both Owen and Aubrey, that will be the official end of this Owen-centric blog. Besides, I've been posting updates and pictures to facebook these days; if you'd like to check up on the Kahn clan, just catch me there.

Owen Loves Yo Gabba Gabba!
We tried for a long time to avoid introducing television to Owen. But the truth is that the TV shows for kids today aren't so bad (in moderation). One show in particular is highly entertaining and full of educational and positive messages: Yo Gabba Gabba! Beth and I dig it as much as Owen does.
This is the first minute of the intro to the show. (There is a lot of singing and dancing in the show, and Owen loves it...)
He really loves this show...

Owen's New Toy
In celebration of spring, Beth's parents bought Owen a new toy: a play-house/slide for the backyard. Dad spent a sunny afternoon putting it together, and Owen went nuts for it right away.
He knew how to climb up the ladder immediately.
Once on top, he showed off some of his favorite new words: "Up!"
And "Down!"
Here he demonstrates "Down."
Happy kid at the wheel.
This is the best way to teach a kid how to drive: on a stationary object.
Spring is here!
Owen spent nearly two hours playing outside, loving every second.
(Me too.)
Owen found some interesting rocks and handed them to me. He likes to give me two things and say "TWO!" He doesn't use "one" or "three", but "two" he gets and loves.
He also loves wearing Daddy's Yankee hat. Me too, kiddo.

Beth on the ATV and Three-Armed Owen
Owen discovered a cheesy photo op and set out to investigate. Without prompting, he stuck his head through it, knowing he'd be causing some sort of spectacle by doing so.
Sticking an extra arm through the cut-out impairs the illusion a bit.
Beth liked riding the ATV. I told her it was dangerous, but she didn't listen to me.
Hey! There's Mom!

Jupiter Times
I just couldn't bring myself to blog while on vacation in Jupiter. Part of that was spotty Internet service, but mostly it was the fact that I knew I'd be coming home before my wife and son--so I wanted nothing more than to enjoy my time with my family while I had the chance.
And now I'm back home in snowy Jersey while they are still enjoying the beach and pool in warm, sunny southern Florida.
For the first time able to walk on a beach, Owen seemed to really enjoy his time in the sand. He'd pick out shells and put them in a bucket or play in the tide pools by the edge of the surf.
Me, I admit to having a little bit of fun too.
With no jellies on the beach (only manatees!), Owen was free to explore.
Unlike last summer on Fire Island, he didn't eat quite as much sand.
And he loved to share his beautiful discoveries.
The best part of the trip was that Owen was able to strip down his winter layers and enjoy the warmth. His eczema cleared within days, and he was a happy camper.
He could hang around in a diaper and nothing else (and occasionally less than that). Here's the boy, hopping off the couch.
Happy or what?
Reading with Pop-pop:
And spending lots of time with Mommy, of course...

This set of pajamas is my favorite. It got a little tight on him by his ankles, so we cut it open a bit on the back.

Christmas at the Cornwells
As is tradition, we spent Christmas at the Cornwells up in Saddle River. Owen really had a great X-Mas.
Owen literally slept 15-20 minutes on the drive up, and then he was so excited that he didn't nap at all until finally crashing at about 10 p.m. In the meantime, he did have some fun with goldfish. Nice/messy moment captured by my Dad:
Spilling out the fish isn't enough; you really have to spread them around for the full experience. (Not shown: Owen did a little dance on top of the fish, crunching them under his feet.)
He was very proud of himself.
And, oh yeah, you can eat them too.
Owen had lots of fun with his Nanny, including playing with the bedposts.
And it's always good to see Grandpa Alan too.
And as usual, the food was delicious. Owen even shared some with Casper...
